# How to customize your 404 page

In this help article, we are going to show you how to create a custom 404 page, and customize content for empty item list and missing detail pages.

**Create a custom 404 page**

1.  Go to the `Pages&Links` Tab and create a new page by clicking **Add page**

2. Customize the page with your own content. For example, you can add some text, a picture, a gif, the link to your home page, etc.

3. Type `404` in the **Page Address** field and enable the **Hide this page from menu** option.

That's it. Your 404 page has been customized! 

Now if user goes to an unexisting page, your customized page with 404 error will be shown there instead of the default 404 error page. [Just like that](https://mooc.spread.name/some-broken-link):

## Create custom content for empty item list and missing detail pages

### How to create content for empty item list

To add custom content for empty list, go to the `Content` Tab -> **Other options** menu:

Add custom wording, an image or a link using Markdown.

Now whenever the search query or filters doesn't match any items in the list, your customers will see your custom message.

### How to create content for 404 details page

To create a custom 404 detail page, go to the `Content` Tab -> **Details page** -> **Other options** menu:

Add custom wording, an image or a link using Markdown.

Now when you customer goes to a detail page that doesn't exist they will see your custom 404 detail page.
